The world is going crazy over the brand new electric cars in the market and therefore Honda is now looking forward to new ways in which it can explore new fields in electric technology. Honda has recently launched an Electric Vehicle Demonstration program which conducts the first public test drive of Honda Fit EV prototype and an Accord Sedan. Both the cars might get launched in the market as electric cars in the future. For this vehicle demonstration program Honda has joined hands with Torrance Mayor Frank Scotto and American Honda Motor Company, President and CEO, Tetsuo Iwamura.

The city of Torrance will receive the Honda Fit EV prototype for test driving in the year 2011. In addition to that Honda has also plan to provide Torrance city a hybrid version of the car in the year 2012 for test driving. Each of the demonstration programs participants will have to test the car under general testing conditions and evaluate specific issues that related to driving an electric vehicle on the road. This will help Honda to understand better about the actual needs and requirements of their consumers which they can rectify when they actually launch the car in electric and hybrid versions.

Tetsuo Iwamura, President and CEO of American Honda Motor Co. said that the goal of this electric vehicle demonstration program is to understand the key challenges and opportunities that are associated with driving electric vehicle because there is a fundamental change in the technology. The real world feedbacks and experience will help Honda to tackle important issues that customers face when they buy electric vehicles.
